LIT TALK: A READING CRISIS CONVERSATION

Lit Talk Zone – Floor 2 Local & Family History
11:00am – 11:45am
FREE

Join the Lit Talk Panel as they discuss a monumental crisis facing the UK – the number of children and young people choosing to read for pleasure being at its lowest for decades.

Our children are only reading if they have to. How did we get here? Why aren’t our children reading? Is enough being done for children to see themselves and their worlds in what they read? What can parents and the industry do about this crisis?

With;

Dapo Adeola – award-winning author, illustrator and character designer.

Carolynn Bain – Founder, Afrori Books, the UK’s leading stockist of books by Black authors.

Sarah Bird – National Literary Trust Regional Lead, National Year of Reading – North.

Emily Zipfel – Book Trust, Project Manager Authors and Illustrators
